tuesday list

it's "only" 89 degrees today. i already did my big walk..... yesterday i wasn't quite so smart. i almost died of sun poisoning/migraine/baking-like-a-dehydrated-worm to the sidewalk. i actually had to make a mercy dash into a CHURCH for water (the church with the big clown in the stained glass window - hehe) it was that bad. i almost could not watch ER reruns with George Clooney with the 1995 short hair. almost. it was thaaaat bad. i want that man to be MY pediatrician. but in all honesty, i would NOT wish munchausens-by-proxy on my children... and the copays would really add up after a while :)

despite having a sunkissed face i now have 4 spots and it's just not right :| i never go to bed without astringing and using tea tree moisturizer, i never ever touch my face with my bare hands, i don't eat (that much) chocolate (except chocolate covered pretzel - mmmmm!) so what the heck? how can i still have teenage acne 25 years later?

shh don't tell him but Sam is student of the month and receives his award Friday! this means he gets a wooden coin from Miss Molly Murphy, the principal who hates dogs, entitling him to a free child's meal at Mimi's Cafe. yay!!! i have been totally craving Mimi's carrot cake this week but cannot justify dining there without a good reason to do so and the wooden coin is the validation i needed! yippee skippy!

off to walk. yes i am insane and a glutton for punishment. but i must do it! (but take more water today :)

our park morning.......... these collages are sooo much easier than using real pictures. whoever invented this thing, i salute you!! and plan to write a letter to Ellen AND Obama about you!!

  • headaches caused by 95 degree walks that don't go away even after excedrin and 5 hours hiding from the sun

scenes from my so-called life

"what do you want for breakfast, Danny?"
silence
"Danny... what do you want for breakfast?'
"somfink a wittle bit cwunchy but not too cwunchy"
"cereal?"
"nope, that's too cwunchy - i mean yogurt"
arrrghhh!!! then just say fricking YOGURT in the first place!!!!!!!!!
arrghhhh. every morning the same thing.....

next:
"how about we go to the park this morning? you can take your new cars with you"
"i want to go to the beach with a big bouncy ball"
"well it's monday morning Danny, it might take some time to get there... and i'll have to stop and get gas... and a bouncy ball. it's going to be a bit of a kerfuffle"
"yeah, i know. i want to go to the beach"
after finding a bouncy ball and driving in rush hour traffic for ONE painful hour listening to 'Do The Dragon' over and over and over, we reached the beach where Danny immediately threw his ball in the ocean and it almost got swept away.
"i don't like the beach - i wanna go home" arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

sunday

it's 93 degrees and 'sunny' here. and i bet it's snowing somewhere :| but the boys are in the pool already looking sunkissed on the first officially hot day of 2009. we skipped fall, winter and spring and are back to summer again...

i made boston cream pie cupcakes today. mmm-mmm. i had to quickly freeze 12 so i didn't send myself into a diabetic coma. i have the hardest time keeping to a recipe - recipes just seem so housewifely and strict that i have to do my own thing and substitute basically everything (the pastry cream... the ganache... the 10 inch pan) and i NEVER wear an apron. nosireebob!

i am boycotting everything owls. it's not going to be that hard, but i did see a cute teeshirt at Target that i had to refuse to buy. i hate... not just hate... i ABHOR... the new housewife of NYC. and she likes owls. so i do NOT anymore.

last night we had indian food and i wondered - since everyone i know in the entire world orders chicken tikka masala (and everyone in the restaurant did too), does anyone ever get anything but chicken tikka masala? in Washington DC we went to Bill Clinton's favorite indian restaurant... they didn't have tikka masala but the little man swore up and down makhanawaniwali tastes just like it - but it doesn't :| this also made me think long and hard about Bill Clinton and my infatuation for him. i mean, if he prefers makhanawaniwali to tikka, i wonder what else we wouldn't agree on :|

friday

i had beans on toast for lunch and put on Oprah. urgh, she sucks, and it's just plain unfair. when i worked full time she was interesting and every show was somewhat riveting. now she has celebrities on all the time and they, mixed with Oprah unsensibilites, are sooo dull. or Suze Orman - this woman kills me. i feel guilty buying cotton balls with which to astringe my face because this woman is constantly on my shoulder telling me i am bankrupting my family one cotton ball at a time. i am scared to buy fresh fruit because i am frittering my childrens' college fund. Suze - please stop being such a Debbie Downer!! i wouldn't even buy a new tank top yesterday because of you and your ommipresent nagging voice in my ear :(

so anyway, yesterday Oprah had that freaksome Berman woman on her show. i cannot watch the freaksome Berman woman - she talks with such clinical chillingness about the "V" word, it makes my blood run cold and my hair stand on end. especially since everytime i see her, i get this really grotesque flashback of a (ewwwsome gruesome hairy ogre) husband of a friend who used to find great 'pleasure' watching her show... ahem. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

the Real Housewives of New Jersey are going to totally SUCK. i just know it. they are going to tie for bottom place with the Atlanta housewives......

must walk. and get Sam. and go on a Mother/Son date - frozen yogurt maybe today... we'll see!

friday

i hate my hair. i have been growing it long for 18 months and it is now chin length (if i pull it really hard when it's wet). it looks like rat tails. i have a bad hair day every single day. i cannot see through my hair. my hair keeps me awake at night. it goes up at the back like jonandkate'splus8 and every other catholic woman's hair ever does. i should cut it, huh...?

other things i hate - it's that kind of get-it-all-out day:

the way i make coffee. Aaron makes great coffee. i make awful coffee that tastes like instant gravy

blue flowers. i hate them. flowers should be yellow or pink or white, never ever blue (exception:bluebells)

Red Robin. i hate that place. it sucks, i don't care if the fries are bottomless, they're crap

CSI sans Grissom and Warrick Brown. seriously, just cancel it pleaase! and once again, who is writing these embarrassingly awful stories??! they should have their hands cut off for writing such crap week after week. last night's show was the worst yet

the way Dr Seuss spells "goodbye" in Go Dog Go.... good-by??? i feel the need to emphasize every night that it is spelled incorrectly, take no notice of this page because the spelling is 60s and wrong wrong wrong, we spell good-by "goodbye". i am sure in the days of yore it was 'cool' to spell it that way but it is not OK now :|

oh man and don't get me started about the 405 freeway. today it wasn't moving. at all. for 18 straight minutes i stared at an overturned crane and a collection of useless caltrans men in orange suits scratching their heads. i had no water in the car and only two orange tictacs that expired in June 2008 (they tasted OK). i shuffled through every one of my 1663 itunes and Laurie Berkner came up every single time :|

back later.........................

thursday

what is with all the tea parties?? it seems like it's just every sore loser waving a banner, but why suddenly is everyone revolting about paying taxes after 8 years of duly paying them and seeing them squandered away paying for a pointless war...? at least the tax dollars are working now.... as is the President (who i will never tire of seeing on the front page each day:)

and why is there twitter and facebook? and do people really update both?

and when are the REAL writers coming back from the writers' strike??? why does every crime show now have the suspense and intrigue of Scooby Do? i have given up on ALL of them - they have nothing on Real Housewives of New York City :)

and honestly $16,000? i've seen that bag in TJ Maxx for $16.99 i am sure of it:) but to be fair, it DID have a cell phone pocket and i bet the TJ Maxx one didn't ;)

ahhh teatime here (and no banner) my wonderful husband is at In-N-Out as i type buying animal fries. God bless that man!

today's playdate, i LOVE this street
