death by taxes

rejoice!! put away the uppers, the peace potion and the downers! the taxes are officially filed and Uncle Sam owes me a D3, a D700 and a couple of lenses... i did my taxes at least 8 times this year. i have a red spot in between my eyes from going cross-eyed typing in W2s and 1099s. and answering 'no i didn't sell a flooded farm in missouri to a blind relative last year' type questions. stupid asshole turbotax - it wouldn't let me change the product from last year's choice. AND i had a coupon and everything but it wouldn't let me use it. i sooo deserve this melted trader joe's chocolate bar for my pain and suffering.

yesterday i handled Lisa's wonderful bricklike D700. i don't need one but i want one! wait, do i need one? nope, but i think i do anyway. i need my spunk back (not that kind of spunk, nononononono! spunkiNESS) changing brands isn't completely nuts, right? i know it is... urgh, but i would keep some of my canon stuff so i am not technically a sneetch........ anyway, it was like driving my old mini - not the new 'made for generica' one - no, the old 'real' one with 10 inch tires and no suspension- along windy country lanes and between cars parked too closely together. i don't know... i tossed and turned for hours. i don't need it. but i do. no i don't. yes i do. urgh. i do. no i DON'T. oh yes you do. but you wouldn't have a wide angle. ah, but i would have the full frame, you see. but carrying TWO cameras...? purlease! stop fighting!! it's noisy inside my head.

"it's a small world" (all lower case) opens today at disneyland! they changed it to weave in as many disney movie characters and as much disney movie music into each scene as possible. and they put America in there too because it was sorely missing! what if it isn't rickety and the dancing dollies don't look like they are about to fall apart anymore... i will report back next week (after the initial wave of pin collectors have been to see it today :)

have i ever mentioned in passing that i hate southern california...? it rained for about 30 seconds this morning and i had such high-ish hopes that i might be 'rained in' and able to drink 10 cups of coffee while loving hating Elisabeth on the View. that the weather might actually harmonize with my state of mind for once. nope. now it's sunny again. fake. happy. sunny. every. single. day. until. i. die. unless. i. escape!!!! we leave for Colorado in 6 days!! my computer says snow showers for friday :) ha! it will be sunny, you watch... the sun follows me around like a mad stalking elf.

3 minutes til my latest batch of 'deeply fudgey' brownies ping. this batch has TWO extra eggs and some of that aforementioned Trader Joe's melted bittersweet chocolate. must wait for them to cool and turn deeply fudgey. that is the hard part!!
