ever since we happened upon the world's most perfect Philly cheesesteak in a hot dog joint in NY, i have been completely obsessed and unable to sleep at night for thinking about those strips of fatty meat intertwined with peppers and mushrooms and melted cheese on a somewhat crispy hoagie with a ton of ketchup. and a large diet coke. i-want-to-go-to-there!
it's 4:44pm and i have been up since 4:56am - the boys have been up since 4:58am :| it doesn't matter how quiet i am tiptoe-ing into the kitchen... the second i make my first perfect cup of coffee (in my perfect new Christmas Tree Shops pastel polkadotty mug) the boys wake up and i have to be the air traffic controller of Sam's airport or resetter of Danny's dinosaur hotwheels toy over and over and over, when all i want to do is sip coffee and put stars next to cute pictures :(
and it gets worse - tomorrow there is no school :|
on my desk sits a recipe for 'authentic' Boston Cream Pie from the Omni Parker in Boston itself. i really shouldn't make it as i will most likely eat it all, even if it's yucky. and it involves scary cook terms like "whip until ribbons form"(??) and "chill overnight" - my worst nightmare is a recipe that takes days to pull off. still for some reason i am drawn to the impossible, so i am off to scour the shelves of superwalmart for 'light cream' - i've only ever seen heavy cream, maybe i should just add some water to heavy cream and that would make it light cream ;) (my improv cooking style could be why everything i bake tastes yucky:)
off to gather lavender and do lady things like that... back later with more pictures ;)
