in my ongoing quest to learn from my american idol, fresh from my inbox here is Martha's This Week's To-Dos:

1. decorate and light tree - CHECK! Horray!! i'm on track!
   
2. make gingerbread house - Martha suggests making one that looks exactly like your own house :| luckily my house looks just like the one at michaels so there seems no point going to all kinds of trouble, surely...? annnnnnd... i feel sort of guilty making something edible that won't be eaten when people are starving in Ethiopia.... so i might just skip this one for humanity's sake :)
   
3. hang finished wreaths and garlands.... i am guessing i should have perhaps started them last week...? ho hum.
4. buy stamps and mail christmas cards. oh my god!!! CHECK!!! i totally did this TODAY!!!
5. send online invitations for holiday parties. no way! i did this also today!
   
6. make or buy candles for holiday table. right.... make a candle, because how hard can that possibly be??!
   
7. create a gift wrapping station and begin wrapping presents. sigh. she has a gift wrapping station... life is so unfair. and i bet it's in an entirely separate house on an entirely separate farm. to contain all the gifts she has bought so far :(
   
8. make and freeze cookie dough. check!...ish. i have nestle tollhouse cookie dough in the freezer....? it's better than homemade, it really is!
   
9. bake cookies if you're participating in a cookie swap. umm.... well i did bake some cookies... but they were sadly too delicious and beautiful to part with ;)

oh dear, oh dear - i think next week i might just accidentally delete the to-do list :) my real to-do list is full of really important things like:

1. make birthday books for both my boys, which means actually looking through the pics and fixing/uploading/arranging/stressing/checking/rechecking/ordering/watching Mr UPS's progress compulsively on my iphone/shaking it to make him drive faster :|
   
2. compile 2009 album. repeat as above :|
3. study every guest on Dr Phil to see which ones he hugs and why he doesn't hug everyone\
4. freeze-frame the audience to see if Robin sits through the entire show from the start or sneaks in after the last commercial break to be walked out on her beau's arm :)
   
5. watch christmas in the white house on sunday (i love it when he doesn't wear a tie. please Mr President, no tie!)
   
6. print more christmas cards (i print a thousand more every year than the last year and still run out...)
   

phew. i am exhausted just typing it all out :| off to bed, i think :)
