santa monica westwood and holmby hills

couldn't decide
whether to go to Neverland or MJ's last home in Holmby Hills (i'm not obsessed i swear... i just keep a list, and have to cross things off in a timely manner and these two items have been outstanding, highlighted, re-underlined with stars and arrows around at them for one year and 2 weeks now

ended up choosing
LA which made me feverish at first, because i am not a city person by any means - i hate poky frantic car parks that you actually have to pay to use, cramped busy restaurants give me hives and i cannot help but notice that city sidewalks don't look very hygienic :{

went to
Santa Monica pier which turned out to be completely lovely and actually didn't smell like urine hardly at all :) now it has a wide, awesome wooden boardwalk the length of the beach and all the lifeguard towers are painted joyful colors and there was some tv show giving everyone armfuls of beach towels and scipts to act along with this week's show (we ended up with 8:) and we took fun pictures and the boys played at Muscle Beach and best of all, parking was free :)

next....
MJ's house - on the way we passed Santa Monica High that had huge samohi murals painted all over it which were a perfect backdrop for some candid Sam pics :) then to MJ's place, God rest his soul, that's a really busy street he lived on, no wonder he got no sleep and took milk of amnesia. that darned doctor should have just told him to wear ear plugs or MOVE :(

did a yelp search
and went to lamonica's which was ok, definitely not in my top ten... but while we were there, sticking out like sore thumbs as tourists for the day, a very nice policeman asked us if we had been to Diddie Riese... another man in the store nodded and stories flew around about the best icecream sandwiches, bigger than your head, for $1.50!!! we quickly slid our pizza in a box and were on our way to Diddie Riese!

seconds later we arrived.....
but it was closed :( so soooo sad :( however... it was opening in FIVE MINUTES!!! horray!! we were so excited and even found a parking space right outside and actually were prepared to PAY to park but alas the meter was jammed :( our hearts sank once more :( as we decided to give up on our dream, a policeman who i SWEAR had angel's wings on his car whipped around and told us to leave the car right there, and go and get our dream icecream sandwiches (as he was on his way to Diddie Riese also:)

O.M.G.................
that chocolate chocolate chip walnut peanut butter cup icecream sandwich was soooooooooooo good!!!!!!!!!!! i want to go to there again RIGHT NOW!!! and again tomorrow. and again on monday. and again on tuesday... etc etc etc. you could go to Diddie Riese's everyday for almost two years and never get the same icecream sandwich twice - they have 10 kinds of cookies and 12 kinds of icecream and you can get whatever combination your little piggie heart desires!!! it's completely AWESOME. the cookies were still warm and soooo soft and chewy and HUUUUUGE - the best cookies i have had in forever and the icecream was perfectly creamy and just soft enough, and the whole sandwich was served in a cup with a spoon so it was even little kid friendly :) whoever invented Diddie Riese, i salute you and call for a statue in your honor!! and i beg you to PLEASE open one in OC.... i would even consider - gasp - driving to LA because of Diddie Riese and i don't do unprotected left turns :|

off to bed with a happy police-lovin' heart tonight - i might even watch America's Most Wanted in bed :) xoxox

that thing behind them is a big sand roller stamp thingie of LA and noone even flipped out about Danny hurling himself off the top repeatedly :)
