houses

today we went "house shopping" which is like my favorite thing to do e-v-e-r

the first house was sooooo adorable (but the shutters need to be black, right?)

it was however slightly shocking how old things look that were built in 1996... like we were just married that year and we are still young and *fresh* and not all olde worlde formica instead of granite... right....? good gawd do we look old too...? (it's the yellow gold wedding rings, isn't it...?) anyways, i loved this house and wanted to buy it instantly. until i saw.....

THIS HOUSE! yes, how the first house looked seventeen years ago!

pretty pretty pretty pretty golden glowy muted soft beautiful light... and i love the way sash windows cast long wistful shadows across the room - it makes my heart skip a beat (in a good way not a worrying arrhythmic way...)

on over an ACRE of wooded heaven for little boys and black dogs and hapless gardeners to frolic in - and a personal avenue of tall trees for pictures and birthday parties with the trees strung with little lights and paper lanterns...?!! it would be a crime to not buy this house :|

this is above the garage. to be finished as an office if anyone should need a home office (God? is that you...? you actually are real????)

all the while we were in this house, i had the tingly dancing legs and wanted to buy it on the spot - CASH! no negotiating, just give me the keys and i'll go and pack. but common sense prevailed and we went to house 3....

i only took one picture of it. of the basement where Jeffrey Dahmer used to dismember and eat his victims. for real - it all happened here :|

even with a private cove leading to Vineyard Sound i could not ever live in a house that's basement looks like a horror movie set (and the laundry is down there.... can you imagine?????)

house number four: doesn't everyone scour strangers' homes for craft ideas? i just love this and i'm making one (but it will say Nauset because that's my favorite beach ever) anyway i'm not buying the shell art house.... too much money for too few square feet ;)

meanwhile back at home we did jigsaw puzzles

still can't even believe it - we live HERE and it's paradise!

if you can overlook stinky 8 year old attitude ;)

i never ever ever ever ever thought i would wear ugly furry shire horse boots

until the temperature dropped to a frigid 30 degrees!!!!!!!!!!  oh yes everyone around me, i am sure it is going to get MUCH COLDER.  whatever.  like it could possibly get ANY colder than this???!

but something magical happens when it's that cold here... the water turns to glass and it's beyond beautiful and so worth wearing furry boots for ;)  but please don't get any colder - i can't feel my fingers when it gets this cold....
