seventeen things i adore about my hubbie (one for each year plus two extra ones because he's just that nice:)

  • he is always always always on my side - if we had teeshirts made, they would read "team us" :)
  • he is the best dad ever. he sent me a mother's day card when we'd been married for just a month. he sent me "at my most beautiful" when i found out i was pregnant with Sam. he is responsible for the boys' teeth. he reads to them in cool animated voices. he takes them for their shots. and icky blood tests. he is the one who helps with homework. and handles sticky situations with teachers that might make me cry. he can handle poopy situations and vomity situations far better than me. he takes the boys fishing (catch and release, naturally:). he is the b-e-s-t dad ever (Atticus Finch gold standard)
  • he makes a good point in a calm voice. he can negotiate and be charming and keep the peace and still get what he wants every single time :)
  • he's a great caretaker: he folds laundry, feeds the many many pets, puts gas in the car, makes the best fishsticks, mows the lawn, cleans the gutters, washes the dogs, unblocks awful toilets, etc etc etc
  • he has never once complained about the distinct lack of meat in this house for the past year :)
  • he's cute :)
  • he can fix stuff. like the CD player in the car and the kitchen faucet. and can explain the DVD player so i can almost use it :)
  • if i can't make it to a school event or conference, he always can :)
  • he is the funniest person EVER (like 10 x little britain funny/mean/awesome)
  • we agree on God (and his fan club)
  • he's a democrat and told me Obama was cool before i'd even heard of him ;)
  • he's generous and kind but not spendy and show-offy and i never have to hide shopping bags in the boot till he's out
  • he looooooooves animals
  • he strokes my hair every night
  • he humors me and my ideas about daytrips to nowhere very interesting with no idea what we'll do when we get there or whether there are actually enough hours in the day to get there and back :)
  • he makes darned fine coffee and when we made that cherry pie last year, it was darned fine also (and hot too :)
