moving woes

today we had a brainwave (well Aaron did - only men have brains :)  we should rent an RV to move across America!!  then we would have all kinds of rooms and closets to stuff cats and dogs in!  and we will have a microwave to make easy mac and hot chocolate without ever stopping!  and we can sleep overnight at Walmarts on our route just like in my wildest dreams and buy goldfish and nail polish and Subway sandwiches and sleep under the stars in quaint towns famous only for children being stuck in wells.  it could be soooooo awesome!!!!!

only things is the dumb RV can't tow the minivan - it can only tow the car: which we were going to get rid of.... grrr!!  so we STILL have to drive two cars.  which means no-one to talk to (unless you count children who only talk about video games and at best, very watered-down politics...) no auditioning for American Idol with a water bottle and telling each other we're a little pitchy :( no checking the other person isn't asleep at the wheel (this is kind of important...)  no fixing them a drink and pretending to be an air stewardess and putting it on a little napkin with a little packet of nuts and talking in a fake fancy high pitched British accent:( "ver you ah, sir! you're vewwy wewcome, sir!"

what are we going to do?  it's like a mensa puzzle i just can't solve.  no matter how hard i think about it.  i have thought of nothing but towing capacities and owners manuals and vehicle weights all day long.  how do we get two cars across the country and all our stuff (which actually isn't that much stuff: we are only taking a few containers full of photos, computers, must-keep trinkets and a few clothes - no furniture, beds, tools, toys, books, clothes, bedding) and all our pets (the mouse is still alive....) to Cape Cod?  (i must look on the bright side -  at least we don't have a fish....)  and is it even possible to drive 50 hours in less than 2 days...?  and how gross will my hair feel after that long without washing it...?  oh gosh, this is going to SUCK.

off to research Pods.  and real moving companies.  and see if we could squeeze everything on a trailer.  pet crates on the roof rack.  boat strapped on top of the crates.  it could totally work :)

  1. I dunno. Can't you get the van shipped or something? Fill it full of stuff and pay someone else to get it there for you while you all go in the RV?
Hmmm now I'm going to lie awake worrying about a conundrum that only applies to someone I have never met.
Of course you're totally worth it. :)

  2. I responded yesterday, but computer died while I was submitting, lol. Anyway, we did the exact same thing. We sold my minivan before we moved, bought an rv and had one of my husbands friends drive his truck a couple weeks later. We all stayed together in the rv. We stayed in KOA camps because a shower for the five of us in a little rv shower wasn't fun, lol. Plus we liked the activities they provided. Once we got to NC, we stayed in an rv park. No showers, but it did have laundry! You can do it.. :) Let me know if you have any questions! We had the five of us as well as two dogs and three cats, one of which needed an iv every day, lol.
